"Longhorn" FAQ
Windows
"Longhorn" is the next desktop version of Windows, an
interim release that will follow Windows XP. Internally
known as NT version 5.2 (Windows XP was 5.1), Longhorn
is due in late 2002 at the earliest, though an early
2002 release is more likely. Find out more in the
first-ever Longhorn FAQ!
Windows
.NET Server Family ("Whistler Server") FAQ
Windows .NET Server is on a different schedule than the desktop versions of
Whistler. Unlike Windows XP, Windows .NET Server is a minor upgrade to the
Windows
2000 Server product family. Find out all about the next version of Windows
Web Server, Standard Server, Advanced Server,
and Datacenter Server in my Windows
.NET Server Family FAQ.
Windows XP FAQ
Once perceived as nothing more than a minor upgrade to Windows 2000, Windows XP
is actually a major new release for any user of Windows. Windows XP will ship
October 25, 2001, and if you want to be ready for it,
check out the first--and still
most comprehensive--Windows XP
FAQ
--anywhere.
