Upgrade Report -------------- This report describes known problems you might encounter after you upgrade to Windows 2000. Read this report to determine the hardware files and upgrade packs you need, then visit Microsoft on the Internet at http://www.microsoft.com/windows/professional/, or contact your hardware or software manufacturer. Contents: Hardware Software Incompatible with Windows 2000 Software to Reinstall General Information Hardware -------- This section of the report describes hardware compatibility issues. Incompatible Hardware The following hardware may not support Windows 2000 without additional files. Please see the Microsoft Windows 2000 Hardware Compatibility List at http://www.microsoft.com/hwtest/hcl/ for a list of compatible hardware. Other devices Unknown Device You can continue with the upgrade, but the hardware may not work until you supply the additional files. Software Incompatible with Windows 2000 --------------------------------------- This section lists information about programs that are incompatible with Windows 2000. Before upgrading, evaluate how important these programs are to you. Software That Does Not Support Windows 2000 Setup has found programs on your computer that do not support Windows 2000. Contact the software vendors to obtain upgrade packs or Windows 2000-compatible versions. If you continue without upgrade packs, the programs won't work until you install Windows 2000-compatible versions after upgrading. VShield (in the Start Menu) Before you upgrade to Windows 2000, you can make more disk space available by removing incompatible programs you don't use. Add/Remove Programs in the the Control Panel can help you remove most programs. Click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then click Add/Remove Programs. Software That Might Not Support Windows 2000 Setup cannot determine if the following programs are compatible with Windows 2000. Setup will disable them during the upgrade to eliminate the risk of problems. Contact the software vendor to obtain an upgrade pack. Find Fast (in the Control Panel) MS DTC (in the Control Panel) WSP Client (in the Control Panel) Software to Reinstall --------------------- The following programs need to be reinstalled after the upgrade, because they use different files and settings in Windows 2000. McAfee Virus Scan Microsoft Proxy Client You should remove the program before upgrading. (Many programs can be removed using Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel). After upgrading to Windows 2000, you can then reinstall the program. General Information ------------------- This section provides important information that you need to be aware of before you upgrade. Hardware Profiles Some settings in the following hardware profiles cannot be transferred to Windows 2000. The first time you use each incomplete profile, the Hardware wizard will help you re-create these settings. Dock 1 Undocked Windows Messaging Services Setup has detected a version of messaging (MAPI) that does not function on Windows 2000. Obtain an upgrade pack for your e-mail program, or reinstall it after upgrading to Windows 2000.
