The latest version of Windows 2000, called Windows XP (code-named Whistler ), was released on October 25, 2001. Meanwhile, the next Windows interim release, Windows XP Service Pack 1 (SP1) is due in August 2002. Server editions of Whistler, called Windows .NET Server, will also ship in late 2002. A future Windows version, code-named Longhorn, is due in late 2003 or early 2004, while the next major Windows release, with integrated .NET functionality, is expected in 2004-5. That product is currently code-named Blackcomb.
